Rufino Silva, MD, PhD, is an Ophthalmologist at the Coimbra Hospital and University Centre, with over 25 years of dedication and experience in the field of retina. He is Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra, former president of the Portuguese Ophthalmological Society (2021-2022) and a researcher in national and international research projects. His main areas of research include age-related macular degeneration and more specifically epidemiology, risk factors, genetics and metabolomics.
